still life

in short: every artist needs to do still life. here's mine.

i hate just taking just sunset pictures. they are not "creative" and anybody can do it. i've seen countless people flock to the beaches, at sunset, just to snap a few pictures with their cameras. even their camera phones!! so, i like having more than just sunsets. i haven't seen a lame sunset yet -- even the cloudy ones provide something beautiful.

i took this photo after a long car ride back from a graduate creative writing conference where i read a short story. i dropped off my two passengers in milford (she lived right by the beach), and saw this sunset, and had to take the picture. it was taken with my minolta 3xi (film) camera.

gerber daisy upright

gerber daisies are beautiful flowers -- the way they look, open up, lay on the table, etc. like sunsets, you can't go wrong with taking a photo of them. i've taken countless pictures of them -- here's one i like, although it is on the under-exposed side.
